In this video I will take you through how to do a custom colour change respray without having to take all the panels off the car. we start by using the original colour as a ground coat then mixing a xirallic pearl with some basecoat stabilizer that is then applied over the top as a transparent coat that will make the colour change in the sun, this is the first video on this VU Holden Commodore Ute, and its an overview. The ground colour is Sting red, top colour Standox 599 mixed with Metalux Sunbeam Pearl then we used DuPont (Cromax) 696S clear coat.
Hi gunman I’ve got a ford super pursuit that needs a respray a battery blew up whilst on the charger and I’ve got acid stains up one side so I might as well get a total respray.
I’m after a top job can you recommend someone in Sydney or Melbourne? I was going to do it myself but I don’t have a booth.
Thanks mate
Hi Gunman,
Great video as always, I’ve been binge watching your content again as I might be stepping up from painting PC cases to respraying my own car soon ๐ .
This one in particular was informative because it demonstrated a full exterior respray and gave me a better idea of how to mask for this kind of job ๐ .
Did you also add masking tape to the rubber seals in door trims, the bonnet and (where applicable) a sunroof or will these be fine as-is?
Thanks again for the videos!
Best regards,
Iain
PS the new format you’ve started where you narrate after shooting the video is a winner and I agree it works well so keep it up ๐ .
Very nice, love the pearls, sprayed one years ago, even as a rookie it turned out really well.
