Absolutely love every video. Especially the Poison Ivy SS Commodore one, as I own exactly that car/colour but in a Redline Sportswagon..Lost count how many times I have watched it to learn how to spray that colour correctly.

As a hobbyist I’ve always wanted a gti pro with te10 1.3 and 1.4 based on your recommendations but unfortunately I’ve fallen in love with the fan on that lotus from your this video. Even for a hobbyist I dont think $1000 is too much to pay for something you’ll have forever.

I’ve been painting for over 30 years and still love it and look forward to going to work every day! You make this looks so fun and easy and it really is when you have the right equipment tools and spray gun in your hand. I really appreciate your videos and unbiased opinion about the Sprayguns. My favorite’s are either the Iwata’s Sagola 4500 or the Devilbiss ProLite sprayguns. I do like Sata as well but they are way overpriced. The gun reviews that you do are exactly the same as what I have experienced as a professional 30 year painter. It’s up the great work and keep making it look fun and easy!!!… Now get out there and paint some shit 🙂
PS. I do have a question about the supernova… Which one has the widest spray pattern, the LS, or the WS? Thanks Man !!

Great channel. Hay has anyone out there heard or and/or used a Walther Premium Pilot gun? Its a German spray gun maker whom is well known for their automatic spray guns not big here in the US but what I can find is that it seems to be a high quality gun.

Magnificence and art gun Man
Sprayed old school acrylic with suction feed guns 30 years ago, and left the trade frustrated with the industry. Now I am enjoying painting again for my own enjoyment – bikes, aircraft, cars – in 2k and waterbourne, learning from Gunman’s vids, and using some awesome guns he recc’d, Star mini, SGK, and SGKprimer. Thanks Gunny, I’ve regained a passion for the craft once again!

I just got a new sata 5500x rp . 1.2 I.
I’m told it’s only for clear coat.
I have got good results with 2k acrylic gloss. Because I dropped my prolite. And broke the pot.
Is it ok to keep using the sata for this work.

gday gunny love the content mate been a subscriber for the past few years now and you’ve inspired me to want to try get into the trade unfortunately I havnt had any luck finding an adult apprenticeship at this time I have done a few small spray jobs on my xh ute I hit a roo and had to change the front guard and fibreglass repair the bumper and they needed painting which turned out good with no runs exept came out darker than the rest of the car haha I used an sca gun which seemed to drink the materials I would like to throw my hat into the ring for the gti pro lite giveaway if you could consider me for the opportunity I would be forever in your debt and if I can get a start at a paintshop it would be awesome to have a good gun like that to start with cheers mate sean

I remember subscribing long ago when I started to look for a new gun. Nice to see that the FLG-5 is still up there. Maybe it’s really time I pick one up but I found it’s not recommended for water-based? Though as a DIY guy I don’t expect to run into that often.

Another helpful video. I have a question for you that maybe you don’t feel qualified to address, but I think your opinion would be very helpful even if this is outside your area of experience. I am planning to build an all aluminum experimental airplane as soon as my kit arrives from RANS (S-21 Outbound on order since last July).
I plan to try to paint it myself. I have a little prior auto painting experience, but I am clearly in the novice category.
Any thoughts as to the best spray gun to use for a water borne aircraft paint? I am leaning towards the Stewart Systems products (https://stewartsystems.aero/). I am just starting my research, but the main differences I see thus far between cars and airplanes is that airplanes need a flexible paint as the skin is thin and flexes more than a car body and airplanes have much higher surface area so need to lay down a lot of paint.
Any thoughts on the best gun for this application?

I was also having trouble with my Devilbiss FLG3 in HPLV… I changed the cap and cut down the air usage and things got a lot better. Again – taking your advice.
HVLP must be a USA regulation.

In my restoration class we mainly use the Tekna guns for base and clear. We also have the DV1 (both base and clear) for more important projects/ better students.
I say in my experience you cant go wrong with either and if I end up entering the industry I will more then likely use a combination of both on paint jobs!

I’ve been working backwards on watching your videos and let me tell you after viewing some of your older stuff which is still helpful. What a difference in the editing quality and the way the videos just work and grab onto to you and keep you interested. Talking over the videos definitely gives it a teacher training feel to it.
I don’t think of myself as a fan more of an apprentice currently! I restore Fj40’s in my shop at home and if I won a new spray gun I’d put that gun to work and spray some shit immediately! Cheers, Brian!!

Thank you for the video. I purchased a GTI pro-lite because of your recommendations. Also picked up the ANI mini from your mini gun video. I’m trying to get me settings right on the guns. You mention that the Pro-lite is great in regards to material usage. I definitely have a ways to go on figuring out the settings as it seemed to use a lot of clear when spraying some motorcycle parts.

Wow, that was swaaaaeeeet video. Many times one can get confused as to what gun they would want and for a stand alone. Your videos help sort oit those thoughts as well as placing a budget together for the home(DIY) guy and thenprofessional painter that would get more bang for the buck. There’s allot of info. out there to read about each of tje guns thay a company wants to sell. I have learned thats its not so mich the gun but the source of information that comes from someone you trust makes the difference….I happened too trust ypir experience and guidence…thanks Gunny….you da bomb

I use a.n.i guns F160(1.3) for base coat and clear, and R150 for spot repair. Very good tools, a little worn out, but working fine. I would like gti pro lite next time.

That was an fascinating video, Gunny! I figured that the GTI Prolite was gonna place first, lol! To be honest, I really don’t blame you for having the SATA at such a “low” ranking. I mean, I spray them all the time at work, and the build quality is there, but it’s not worth the money for me. I can move way faster with my supernova or prolite. I can change my prolite’s setup for whatever the climate demands, and achieve the same quality results. It’s just way nicer for the price.

Id like to also confirm eBay as the best place to pick up an Iwata as I have purchased 2 guns (W400 classic and LPH80) on separate occasions from a Japanese supplier. They are the real. And a nod to spray guns direct as they seem to have best prices on Devilbiss and ANI even after currency conversions to the US Dollar. Thanks again Mate!

Was very pleased to see flg5 in the 3rd place, my first and only gun so far, currently doing up a 1982 mercedes 230ce, so most of the gun practice was on epoxy primer, but recently sprayed a few panels on a 2015 vw scirocco in rising blue and was very pleased with the results, so thank you gunman for the review, upping the pressure when spraying clear really helped, so thank you again, all the best and keep them vids coming

I would really appreciate any spray gun from that list. About to paint my first car once I finish block sanding and filler work and need to purchase a spray gun and this would be perfect timing. Really want to see more of your content regarding some Anest Iwata spray guns released in the past, as an example lph 400 (it has 3 aircaps, the older one hvlp cap, and two newer ones, the orange one lvlp-hvlp, and the purple onelvlp-hvlp) Many people say that this gun is flawless in material consumption, however they claim it as a slow gun, and it’s not a cheap gun, however they claim that if it’s used in a busy shop, it is a great investment because they can really notice the difference in material consumption, because it has minimal overspray.
And the anest iwata bellaria, is just a version of a classic W400, andthere are other versions of W400, as an example W400 wbx(waterbase extreme), split nozzle, huge fan, great atomization, you did a review on this gun in the past, i hope you will review it one more time, with a fresh look, and there are several other versions of W400 with split nozzles the one called WB1, and WB2 aswell. These sprayguns aren’t as cheap as bellaria is, but hopefully we’ll see them on your channel. As a russian guy , i’ve seen lots of russian videos of lph400 and W400 with these aircaps , but almost nobody did a proper indepth review in english, i would really want to hear your opinion on those. Because you told that there are no other aircaps on bellaria. Mate, bellaria is a version of W400 classic spraygun with BA2 aircap, and as i’ve said earlier there are other aircaps that can be used on W400 gun body, however, they need to be changed with needle/nozzle combination, because some of them do have split nozzle, and they differ from each other.

What fluid tip & air cap combo do you usually for spraying basecoat and clear with the ProLite? I used 1.4 with TE10 for base, and 1.3 with TE20 for clear and it turned out pretty well but just wondering how you do it.

As someone who will be needing to get a spray gun shortly, having a professional review is worth its weight in gold. Really appreciate the fact that you consider a guns suitability for both hobbyist air setup or professional/commercial air setup.
As a video suggestion, could you consider grabbing a person off the street, giving them a few beginner tips, and them let them loose with a few of guns that you think would work well in the hands of an amateur to see which gives the best results?

I learnt the hard way when the paint crazed all over the whole car, literally the whole car looked like shattered glass. All because I sprayed on a cold winters night in Melbourne in the back garage. Maybe one day it may become a craze…

I would like to see you revisit the Binks Trophy, I think you mustve gotten a defective gun. I have the pressure feed version in LVMP for painting aircraft and I love it. Great bang for yiour buck after the initial purchase because they engineered to have a low cost of ownership such as one needle and aircap to go from .85 all the way to 1.8. Only have to switch fluid nozzles.
Anyway, thanks for the content your channel is a real treasure trove.

This is perfect timing. I was just looking for my first spray gun, and was lost on which gun to get as I’m a DIYer and not a paint pro. Luckily I’ve been watching the Gunman for a few years and have learned a ton since I only attended one semester of collision repair. Hope to respray my two vehicles this year.

This is great! I just purchased my first HVLP gun this week but I just went with one of the Harbor Freight guns to get started ?. I’m prepping to spray for the first time in the next week or so, I still need to line my home garage with plastic and add some fans to set up my makeshift spray booth. I think I have all the materials, but it’s taking a lot of prep before I feel like I’m ready to pull the trigger on some test pieces. I’m going to start out on my table saw cabinet as a first piece after I feel comfortable with my test pieces to get some additional practice.

Great you are pointing out the guns which might struggle in the cold… It’s not always easy to heat the workspace enough! Guess this knowledge will come with experience as well, but nice to save some money on too large fluid tips.

I’m about 3 months away (gotta wire up my shed next and then buy a decent compressor) from attempting my first full respray on my old mans 1966 HR Holden. Been a good father/ son project for the last 2 years cutting out floor pans, welding in 4 new door skins, rear 1/4 replacement, rebuilt engine and box, rebuilt brakes/ suspension & fuel system and watching your vids is definitely giving me the confidence to get to the next step, to get out there and paint some shit!

This video could not have come at a better time! I have been looking around for a brand new spray gun for a while now. My business been steadily taking off and I felt like it was time to up my game! I started off with a $40 central pneumatic gun from harbor freight, moved up to a black widow, now I really want to add a professional gun to my line up. This video definitely has helped me norrow in on my final decision ??
